habari - wordpress replacement ?

Apparently, some of the major wordpress developers are working on a brand new system, Habari. The reason behind this is that they apparently want something simpler and view WP as ‘going down the commercial route’ (not sure what that means - i don’t actually frequent wordpress.com much)
Opinion on Habari itself seems split, some people love it while others seem to hate it.
I haven’;t seen enough of it (it’s barely even an alpha release…), but I think it may have come along too late.
I’ll have a go at setting up a system somewhere (because I like tinkering)- It doesn’t have a proper release yet, but the wiki contains instructions on how to download it if I can get subversion working…
