Disable Windows Update Restart Prompt

By Martin English | January 11, 2008

After downloading Windows security updates, your PC nforms you that it needs to restart.

What’s especially annoying about this is that when it tells you this, you’re always in the middle of something. Even if you choose the option “no”, the nag box bounces back 5 minutes later to harass you again.

To disable this, go to the start menu, choose “run” and in the box, type cmd and press enter. When the command line box comes up, type

sc stop wuauserv and then press enter.

That’s it!
